Plan Ahead: Blue Angels 2017 Show Schedule - includes 4 shows in the 'South'

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Dec. 7, 2015) – U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, announced updates to the 2016 air show schedule and released the 2017 show schedule at the International Council of Air Shows convention, Dec. 7.

The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 65 demonstrations at 33 locations in 2016 and 67 demonstrations at 35 locations in 2017.

The 2016 schedule changes announced include:

  • A show in Gary, Indiana, replacing the Milwaukee, Wisconsin show (July 9-10).

  • Cancellation of the Brooklyn, New York show (Aug. 20-21).

  • Cancellation of the Cape Cod CGAS, Massachusetts show (Aug. 27-28).

  • A show in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, replacing the NAS Jacksonville show (Nov. 5-6).

Demonstration sites are selected in support of Department of Defense objectives and in the interest of the armed services, with safety as the primary consideration. Performances greatly assist in recruiting and retention goals for the military services, enhance esprit de corps among uniformed men and women, and demonstrate the professional skills and capabilities of the Naval services to the American public and U.S. allies.

The mission of the Blue Angels is to showcase the pride and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps by inspiring a culture of excellence and service to country through flight demonstrations and community outreach. In 2016, the Blue Angels will celebrate their 70th anniversary. Since 1946, the Blue Angels have performed for more than 484 million fans.
