LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A woman is charged with felony animal cruelty. Lawrence County investigators say she faked a pregnancy for seven months and then killed a dog to fake a miscarriage.
Sheriff's deputies say 43-year-old Anita Parker called 911 Thursday night saying that she was having a pregnancy-related emergency. When paramedics got to the house, they found Parker covered in blood. She was then taken to the hospital for what was believed to be a miscarriage.
After being checked out by a doctor, the family says doctors told them Parker has never been pregnant.
When Parker's boyfriend went back to the home, that's when he discovered the mutilated Chihuahua dead in the garbage can. Investigators say Parker killed the dog to use its blood and tissue to help stage the fake miscarriage.
Parker was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on $7,000 bond.
