Pensacola, FL

It was 5 a.m. on Monday and temperatures still hovered in the 30s, but a group of 10 young adults got together and set out with paint and a mission.

The "graffiti bridge" is a Pensacola icon, donning various schemes throughout the year. In October, you'll often see it pink for breast cancer awareness, and in September, gold for childhood cancer awareness.

There is no permit required to paint the bridge, so the themes can range from personal to political.

Monday was Bernie Sanders' supporters day.

They first had to cover the existing graffiti with blue paint and then write their message atop that.

Bill Paul, a Sanders supporter from Pensacola, shared the photos with the Florida for Bernie Sanders campaign and said the bridge was the talk of the town on Monday.

Among the inscriptions on the bridge: #SandraBland, #BlackLivesMatter, No Wall Street Welfare, equal rights matter and #FeelTheBern.

Sanders is a senator from Vermont running as a Democrat in the 2016 presidential election.

He has grassroots organizations in Florida such as the group that painted the bridge as well as close by in Mobile, named "Mobile 4 Bernie."
