Alabama needs one more win to claim its 16th national championship.

The No. 2-seed Crimson Tide held No. 3-seed Michigan State scoreless in their 38-0 win in the Cotton Bowl.

The win sends the Tide to the College Football Playoff national championship game where they will play top-seeded Clemson on Jan. 11.

Bama (13-1) and MSU (12-2) failed to score in the first quarter. The second quarter followed a similar path until Jake Coker hit Calvin Ridley for a 50-yard pass.

That long completion set up a one-yard touchdown run by Derrick Henry.

Adam Griffith added three more points on a 47-yard field goal with less than two minutes to play in the opening half.

The Spartans put together a promising drive on their next possession. But Cyrus Jones intercepted Conner Cook’s pass just shy of the goal line and the Tide took a 10-0 lead into the break.

Coker continued to have his way with the Spartan defense in the second half. He connected with Ridley for two touchdowns on gains of six and 50 yards.

Cyrus Jones made sure his name appeared in the scoring summary when he returned a punt 57 yards to the end zone in the third quarter.

Bama entered the fourth quarter with a 31-0 lead. But Henry ran 11 yards for his second touchdown and gave Bama a 38-0 lead.

Henry rushed for 75 yards on 20 carries.

Coker completed 25-of-30 passes for 286 yards.
