Daphne High athletic director and head football coach Glenn Vickery has been placed on paid administrative leave.

New Baldwin County superintendent Eddie Tyler confirmed the move in a statement Saturday morning.

The leave, according to Tyler, is “pending a Baldwin County Board of Education human resources department review, related to Board of Education policies and procedures.”

Vickery has been Daphne’s coach since 2004. He has a 107-41 record at the school and led his team to the Class 6A state title in 2010 and a runner-up finish in 2005. He has been a head coach in Coastal Alabama for 31 years, including a 15-year stint at Mobile Christian and four years at Davidson.

Tyler said in his statement that it is vital that no rush to judgement is made.

“It’s important that no preliminary conclusions be made or speculated and allow the review process to be conducted thoroughly,” the statement read. “This is all the information we can share at this time.”

Vickery could not immediately be reached for comment.
