A family’s 38-foot travel trailer was reduced to bits and pieces Monday morning when it was hit by a train on Clermont Boulevard in Clermont Harbor.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Don Bass said the family was leaving a nearby campground when the trailer came unhooked from their truck and got stuck on the railroad tracks just before 9 a.m. Bass said the family tried to reattach the trailer, but they were unsuccessful.
The family was able to drive the truck away from the tracks before the train hit the trailer. There were no injuries reported.
Bass said the trailer was a 2016 model valued at about $100,000.
