At the Casinos: An Evening with Todd Rundgren this weekend...and more - including Jay Leno, Foreigne

By Lawrence Specker

Possibly you thought it was great when Todd Rundgren visited the Gulf Coast last year, but you were hoping for a show featuring more of his greatest hits. If so, you get your chance this weekend in Biloxi.

Rundgren spent much of 2015 in a tour that focused heavily on his new album "Global," which Rundgren amiably described as an effort to reach out to younger listeners. That meant the shows featured a hybrid of live guitar and laptop-driven electronica, heavy use of video and lighting elements, and not much of his extensive back catalog. Stops included Mobile, New Orleans and Jackson, Miss.

But his current tour, "An Evening with Todd Rundgren," is a different animal. According to Rundgren's website it features a full band – with John Ferenzik, Kasim Sulton, Jesse Gress and Prairie Prince – playing fan favorites. The tour comes to IP Biloxi on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Aside from a free Asian Show at the Golden Nugget, also on Saturday, that's it for this weekend, as far as major acts at Gulf Coast casinos. But things get rocking on Jan. 29, with shows by O.A.R., the Beatles tribute act The Fab Four and Josh Turner.
