North Alabama is gradually wading into winter weather, moving from snow flurries to now a possibility of a light glaze of ice on roads later this week.

A wintry mix is expected across north Alabama on Wednesday morning, which may lead to a light glaze of ice on roads in northwest Alabama, according to the National Weather Service forecast office in Huntsville.

The weather service said the wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain is expected to transition to all rain by Wednesday afternoon.

There is a chance of a rain/snow mix Friday night as another cold front moves across north Alabama.

Meanwhile, wind-chill factors dropped to 10 degrees in Decatur on Monday morning. Wind chill dipped to 13 degrees in Huntsville, 14 in Muscle Shoals and 4 in Winchester, Tenn.
