An Ozark man was recently sentenced to 50 years in prison in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman and her 8-year-old daughter.
David Luverne Pitts, 45, was captured in West Palm Beach, Fla. on July 29, 2014, five days after woman and child were abducted from their Ozark home.
Authorities said Pitts took them to a secluded area about 10 miles away from their home. He sexually battered the woman in front of the girl and then molested the child.
Pitts let the woman and girl go before fleeing the area.
After pleading guilty, Pitts was convicted of seven felonies and sentenced to 50 years for first-degree rape, 20 years for first-degree burglary, 20 years for sex abuse of a child less than 12 years old, 15 years each for two counts of second-degree kidnapping, 15 years for first-degree theft of property and 10 years for first-degree criminal mischief, court records show.
The sentences will be served concurrently.
