How did Jimmy Buffett please his audience in Birmingham? Let us count the ways

10 reasons why you should have been at his Feb. 25 concert at the BJCC Arena.

Buffett, 69, a country-pop star, grew up in Mobile and Fairhope. He and the Coral Reefers made their last appearance in the Birmingham area in February 2012 at the BJCC's Legacy Arena. The venue was packed with about 14,000 ticketholders, many of them decked out in parrot heads, shark-fin visors, Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and other tropical attire.

Buffett's playlist, nearly 30 numbers strong, included signature songs and tunes that seemed designed to please a home-state crowd, such as ''Bama Breeze,'' ''Pascagoula Run,'' ''Back Where I Come From,'' ''Stars Fell on Alabama,'' ''Sweet Home Alabama,'' ''Birmingham'' and ''Southern Cross.'' Chris Fryar, a Gardendale resident and drummer for the Zac Brown Band, made a guest appearance on ''Knee Deep,'' playing percussion.

This might be the only checklist that would include both Marseilles, France, and Ringling, Montana.

Buffett has long history of shows in Alabama, playing at venues and festivals throughout the state. He and the Coral Reefers played a sold-out date at The Wharf in Orange Beach, for example, in February 2015.

Buffett's tour agenda for 2016 also includes shows in Virginia Beach, Va. (April 16); Raleigh, N.C. (April 21); Charlotte, N.C. (April 23); and Frisco, Texas (May 28).

Ticket prices for the shows in Virginia Beach and Charlotte have been posted on the Live Nation website -- $36-$136 -- and can offer a clue to prices for the Alabama date.
