An 18-year-old who was shot by his girlfriend's father in November has been arrested and charged with second-degree rape, according to WHNT.

Jaizon Collins was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A Madison County Sheriff's Office spokesman said the charge is connected to the shooting incident, the station reported.

On Nov. 12, Collins was at his girlfriend's house when he was shot in the chest by her father, Fitzgerald Bouvier McQueen, of Harvest.

McQueen was charged with first-degree assault. A fifth-grade teacher at Heritage Elementary School in Madison, he was placed on paid administrative leave after his arrest.

Collins' mother, Tasha Edwards, later filed a lawsuit against McQueen, claiming her son suffered severe personal injuries and mental anguish because of the shooting.
