3 Wal-Mart employees injured during shoplifting-turned-robbery in Decatur

Decatur, AL

A wanted man was caught in a shoplifting incident at a Decatur Wal-Mart on Wednesday. That incident left three employees with bruises, according to police.

Decatur police say a loss prevention employee saw the suspect concealing merchandise shortly before 2 p.m., pass the registers and try to leave the store without paying.

They tried to stop him and a fight broke out as he tried to get away. Police say five employees were trying to get him into custody when they arrived.

A total of three employees received bruising and abrasions. One was bitten.

Anthony Tyler Marvel, 20, was charged with third-degree robbery.

He was also charged with two counts of failure to appear on prior youthful offender charges.

Marvel is also on Community Corrections, which had an active arrest warrant for prior charges.

Marvel's bonds are $2,500 for the robbery charge and $1,500 for failure to appear. He will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail once those bonds are satisfied.
