They’re Back! 25,000 Snowbirds escape the cold North - welcomed to 'The South'
GULF SHORES, AL
Our retired friends from up north are back in South Baldwin County for the winter!
The second wave of snowbirds arrived last weekend. Thousands are settling in Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach for the winter.
Retirees from places like Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan have packed local campgrounds and RV resorts. They’re also renting condos and beach houses.
The snowbirds want to escape frigid temperatures back home and trade it in for milder weather.
Tourism officials say about 25,000 snowbirds visit South Baldwin County each winter and keep the local economy up and running during the off-season.
Most of our northern guests will stay until March.
