Greenville business owner arrested for allegedly raping employee at store

GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA)
The Greenville Police Department has arrested the owner of Cahaba Interiors Furniture after he allegedly raped an employee at the store.
According to the Greenville Police Department, 43-year-old Jeffery Chad McGriff was arrested on Friday on charges of first degree rape.
The investigation began when the Greenville Police Department was contacted by the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office around 9:30 p.m. on Friday in reference to a possible rape victim. The sheriff's office told Greenville PD that the victim was at a hospital in Luverne, but they believed the offense occurred in Greenville.
Investigators with the Greenville Police Department responded to the hospital and talked to the victim.
Investigators then went to the alleged scene in Greenville where they established probable cause that a crime had been committed.
Once the probable cause was established, McGriff was taken into custody.
McGriff was transported to the Butler County Jail where his bond was set at $30,000. According to police, he has since bonded out of jail.
