Pamela Taylor, a resident of Fulton, received a Christmas miracle from an anonymous donor in the form of a brand new 2016 Honda Accord at House of Honda on Saturday.

Taylor’s year began tumultuously after her husband experienced complications from surgery. On top of that, her car stopped working two weeks ago, causing her to walk to her job at Walmart.

On Dec. 23 – the stormiest day of the year – Taylor trekked to work in severe weather. Her anonymous donor noticed and contacted Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley and the owner of House of Honda, Rudy Dossett Jr.

“I was at work on Christmas Eve, and my boss called me to the front and told me some anonymous donor bought me a Honda Accord,” Taylor said. “It’s a blessing. It’s something I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

Taylor, known for her giving spirit, said she will now have transportation to continue volunteering at nursing homes. “I don’t feel like I deserve it,” she said. “This is the best Christmas present I’ve ever had. I’ve never had a brand new car. I was just telling the Lord that I really needed to have a car.”

As Presley handed her the keys, he announced the donor also paid for a year’s insurance, tag and title.

“She’s had a tough year, and she does a lot of good for other people,” he said. “The donor heard about her struggles. It just really shows the spirit of Christmas.”

Dossett got a call four days ago from the donor and told him Taylor’s husband was out of work up to 120 days.

“Her first comment she said when they told her she would be receiving the car was, ‘I can now help senior citizens with getting groceries, medicine and taking them to the doctor,’” Dossett said.

Presley said he hopes the donor’s act of kindness will raise awareness of the importance of giving.

“It’s like a stone tossed into the pond; it makes ripples,” he said. “I think this is what Jesus would have wanted to see. (Taylor) helps other people out. She’s a hard worker, and I’m proud to have coordinated this.”

For her first trip in her new car, she plans to drive to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis to volunteer with the children.
