2 missing people found dead; Mississippi tornado death toll rises to 10
MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) -
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has confirmed ten deaths following severe weather that moved through Mississippi on Wednesday.
The two deaths confirmed were those of missing people in Benton County who were found on Saturday.
A total of 56 injuries were reported, and there are no reports of any additional missing people. According to MEMA, six deaths occurred in Benton County, one in Coahoma County, two in Marshall County and one in Tippah County.
Though damage assessments are ongoing, a total of 400 homes were affected; 241 sustained major damage or destroyed. Gov. Phil Bryant declared a state of emergency on Christmas Eve, which remains partially activated to assist with recovery efforts.

Meadowood Baptist Church Gym, located at 1512 Hatley Rd, in Amory is open as a shelter. In Marshall County, donations and volunteer reception center is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building located at 235 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs.
The forecast calls for severe storms across the state, with strong cold fronts from the northwest to the southeast. Officials warn that tornadoes are a possibility, and warn residents to stay alert.
