Greene County, AL
Three people, including a small child, were killed and nine more injured during a possible drag race in Greene County Saturday night.
All of those killed and injured were bystanders, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Trooper Reginal King. No arrests had been made as of 11 p.m.
The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. on Greene County 231 near Eutaw. King said the preliminary investigation indicates street racing may have been a factor, but emphasized that the probe is still in the early stages.
Those killed were two adults, ages 22 and 30, and a 3-year-old boy. Nine others were taken to several area hospitals: Greene County Hospital, DCH Regional Medical Center, DCH in Northport, and Children's of Alabama in Birmingham.
ALEA is the lead agency on the crash. King said more information will be released as it becomes available.
