Gulfport Police arrest dozens in massive crime crackdown over past four months
GULFPORT, MS (WLOX)
Gulfport’s "criminal subculture" took a big hit in recent months, according to Police Chief Leonard Papania. Over the past four months, Gulfport police have executed 50 search warrants, netting 30 felony arrests and 85 misdemeanor arrests. Police also recovered eight firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Papania said the operation to clean up the streets of his city has been a partnership between his department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, the Coastal Narcotics Enforcement Team, ATF, FBI and DEA.
