There’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than marveling at the amazing decorations that have gone up all over the state. And for many families, viewing these decorations is an anticipated holiday tradition. So just to help get the (festive) ball rolling, we’ve searched the state for some of the best decorations around. 1. Richardson Light Show, Madison

For well over 10 years, the Richardson Light Show has been lighting up the city of Madison. The free of charge Christmas celebration includes more than 200 inflatables, over 100,000 LED lights, hundreds of lighted wireframe characters and messages, a 23-foot animated tree, and much more.

The drive-through display, which is synchronized to music, is made up of over 300,000 sparkling lights. And the fun doesn’t end there! In addition to train rides and hot chocolate, Santa Claus stops by nightly for photos. This must-see display will be open until the end of the year, so there’s plenty of time to make the trip.
3. Southern Lights, Southaven

Held in Central Park, Southaven’s annual Southern Lights display encompasses 116 acres, which are all beautifully adorned with 500,000 twinkling lights, making for a magical drive. And while there, be sure to check out the Christmas Tree Farm, which is synchronized to music by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The amazing light show is a must-see and is open until the end of the month.
4. Christmas in the Park, Collins

Between November 26th and December 26th, Collins’ Bettie D. Robertson Park lights up every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night thanks to the annual Christmas in the Park celebration. The beautiful light displays are meant to honor both the birth of Jesus Christ and the heroes of the United States Armed Forces.
5. Lewis Light Display, Purvis

For over two decades, the Lewis family has been in the business of getting people into the Christmas spirit via their larger than life Christmas display, which includes over 200,000 lights and several pieces of original art. Each year, residents look forward to the beautiful lights, but locals aren’t the only ones who enjoy it. The display has actually attracted visitors from as far away as Canada, Europe, and Asia! The light show is located at 280 White Chapel Road, is free to attend (donations accepted), and is open seven days a week, weather permitting, until the end of the year.
6. Harbor Lights Winter Festival, Gulfport

Years in the making, Gulfport’s Harbor Lights Winter Festival kicked off for the first time this year. The festivities, which are held in Jones Park, include live entertainment, concessions, a 65-foot Ferris wheel, train and carriage rides, and an incredible, multi-million dollar light display.
7. Wister Gardens, Belzoni

During the warmer months, great views at Wister Gardens come in the form of beautiful flowers, but in December, the amazing views can be attributed to the annual Winter Wonderland of Lights celebration. The stunning display, which can be viewed nightly from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, sets the 14-acre garden all aglow, making for a magical sight.

During the month of December, Chunky’s Lazy Acres completely transforms into a winter wonderland. Visitors to the farm are taken on a magical hayride that traverses festive holiday scenes and thousands of twinkling lights, all while listening to the story of Christmas as told by Santa Claus and his number one reindeer, Rudolph.

Each Christmas season the “City of Lights” lives up to its nickname as the Historic Courthouse Square is adorned with out-of-this-world decorations and over 200,000 dazzling lights. The Yuletide fun continues with a ton of events that include everything from pictures with Santa to historic trolley tours – all of which take place under the luminous blanket of Christmas lights.

Referred to as “the best kept secret in north Mississippi,” Christmas in Cotton Plant is like nothing you’ve ever seen! The display, which attracts thousands of people nightly, spans 13 acres and includes over 300,000 lights and hundreds of inflatables.
11. Snowflakes in the Bay, Bay St. Louis

Obviously, the Gulf Coast is most commonly thought of during the summer months, but immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday, Bay St. Louis turns into a “magical coastal wonderland” thanks to the annual Snowflakes in the Bay celebration. Amazing decorations adorn the entire Old Town area of Bay St. Louis, which of course include a ton of sparkling snowflakes.
