Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) opens Alabama chapter

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -
The Council on American-Islamic Relations officially started an Alabama chapter on Saturday with an event at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.
The organization says it promotes a positive image of Islam and Muslims in America.
Saturday's event was attended by community leaders and the local chapter's chairman.
The Alabama group is the national organization's 20th local chapter.
