An Alabama doctor has pleaded guilty to soliciting sex earlier this year from a patient in exchange for money and drugs.
Dr. Ervin Wells, 52, was sentenced last week to a maximum of a year in jail, with all but five days suspended, and two years probation, according to court records. He was given credit for already serving those five days prior to his guilty plea.
Wells was ordered to surrender his medical license and cannot reapply during the two-year probation period. He was also ordered to have no contact with his victim or her family.
According to the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners, Wells has already surrendered his license to practice in Alabama.
Wells, who was a doctor in Montgomery and Albertville, was arrested in August after a female patient in Albertville reported that he had offered her money and prescription drugs if she would have sex with him.
