Plane carrying Morgan Freeman crash lands in Tunica, MS
TUNICA, MS (WMC) -
A plane carrying actor Morgan Freeman made a crash landing at the Tunica Airport Saturday.
The plane had to land unexpectedly due to mechanical difficulties shortly after taking off. It also had a blown out tire and some additional damage. No injuries were reported to either Freeman or his pilot.
“While we were surprised to be alerted of the unplanned landing, I am relieved to report there were no injuries to Mr. Freeman or the pilot. Our team is trained for all potential emergencies and our expert ground team at the Tunica Airport was ready for the situation,” Executive Director of Tunica Airport Eric Konupka said.
The plane was heading to Houston, Texas, from Clarksdale, Mississippi.
“I am thankful to report that Morgan and the pilot are fine and weren’t affected in the least due to the pilot’s expertise and the fast response of Tunica Airport. I enjoyed dinner with Morgan at our club, Ground Zero, within a hour of the unplanned landing,” Clarskdale Mayor and Freeman’s business partner, Bill Luckett said.
