Mobile Police are calling the operation that led to the seizure of several gambling machines at several area businesses "Little Vegas."
Mobile Police Department's Tactical Unit executed search warrants at five bars and four residences in possession and operation of illegal gaming machines on Nov. 30.
Police spokeswoman Charlette Solis said the investigation took weeks and employed surveillance, confidential informants and undercover operations.
With those tactics in use, MPD "was able to identify the bar owners and operators who allow video gaming devices such as video slot machines to be used inside their respective establishments."
The devices are illegal and strictly in violation of Alabama State Law, Solis said.
Michael's Lounge, located at 1443 Navco Road was raided and had one arrest. 76-year-old Curtis Watts was charged with possession of gambling device. Watts has been charged with gambling before, back in 2008.
The Touch of Blues, located at 2070 St. Stephens Road, also had one arrest. Three video game machines were recovered and Herbert Anderson, 59, was charged with possession of gambling devices. It lists itself as a barbecue restaurant.
Brandi's Lounge, also on St. Stephens Road was raided and two machines were seized. 46-year-old Theodore Houze was arrested.
Phat Tuesday, also on St. Stephens Road, had three gaming machines and 59-year-old Richard Johnson was charged.
MPD Narcotics, MCSENT, and MPD first, third and fourth precincts participated.
