Have you ever wondered just how much Alabama and Auburn fans differ when it comes to interests besides college football?

Thanks to new research by Samford University's sports marketing program, you can now find out how supporters of the Tide and Tigers compare when it comes to movies, politics and more.

To determine how much fans of both teams differ, Samford University's Brock School of Business sports marketing program used a tool provided by Affinio, an audience insights company, to calculate the interests of both fan bases. The tool allows users to compile data about the followers of specific Twitter accounts based on what brands those followers mention, follow and interact with online.

To analyze Auburn and Alabama fans, Darin White, Director of Samford University's Sports Marketing Program, used the media analytic tool to retrieve data about the 134K fans following Auburn's official Twitter, @AuburnTigers, as well as the 296K fans following Alabama's official Twitter, @AlabamaFTBL.

From there, White was able to determine the most relevant results based on mentions, follows and other online interactions for specific categories, such as NFL teams, political candidates, and Emojis.

The insight was taken from tweets sent during the 2015 football season. While some answers weren't too surprising, others showed a deep contrast between the two fan bases.

"It's really interesting stuff," said White. "When you really start digging into that, it's pretty fascinating. There's some things they were the same on, but there's also a lot they aren't."

You can check out some of what the two fan bases differed on in the gallery above. The results Auburn and Alabama fans had in common are mention below.
