AL woman reported missing since April 27, 2011 tornado located in good health in South Florida
TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -
Tuscaloosa police say a woman who has been reported missing ever since the April 27, 2011 tornado has been located in Florida and is in good health.
Laurie Anne Macconnell was one of several missing persons cases the Tuscaloosa Police Department investigated after the deadly tornadoes.
Police said most of those reported missing were eventually found. By May 19, 2011, five people were reported still missing in Tuscaloosa: Laurie Macconnell, Latoya Brown, Teresa Marioquen (a mother), Teresa Marioquen (her daughter) and Yolonda Marioquen.
On Nov. 19, Tuscaloosa police investigators received information that Macconnell was in Florida. They worked together with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in south Florida and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to get in touch with Macconnell.
“An investigator with the Tuscaloosa Police Department was able to speak with Ms. Macconnell over the phone and verify that she was the person listed as missing, and she was in good health,” Tuscaloosa Police Captain Brad Mason said in a news release on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
There are still three people reported missing in connection with the tornado: Latoya Brown and the mother and daughter both named Teresa Marioquen.
Anyone with information about any of these women is asked to call the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
