HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – They’re known as the ‘Marathon Gamers.’ This group of friends is playing video games for 72 hours straight in an effort to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
They’ve done pretty well so far. Before the video game marathon even started, the group surpassed it’s goal of $2,000. They beat their new goal of $2,500 after just a few hours. By Friday night the gamers had raised $2,600.
The marathon video game experience is being streamed on Twitch TV. The group says it will play through as many games as possible, doing anything they can do entertain viewers in hopes of gathering donations and to have fun while doing it. The gamers are playing Star Wars games in anticipations of the new Star Wars movie coming out in December.
