Dangerous Jackson I: Man charged in shooting spree that killed two women
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
22-year-old Zehulum James has been arrested and charged in Thursday night's shooting spree that left two women dead.
A Missouri woman was shot in the stomach in the Drury Inn parking lot Thursday night and later died. She was in town on business and was walking to Logan's Roadhouse from the hotel.
Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal says he believes James also shot and killed a woman in Jackson at a Shell Station.
That shooting happened at Beasley Road and Watkins Drive just before 6 p.m.
A witness said he saw a man in a blue mustang driving around the gas station. He came up to a woman and shot her but didn't take anything.
The Drury Inn shooting was just a few minutes later.
At around 7:15 officers arrested James at the Briarcliff South Apartments. His vehicle was towed to the crime lab for processing.
James was later charged for murder and taken to the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond.
He is also a suspect in at least three other shooting incidents:
Shooting in a Jatran Bus near the 4300 block of Watkins Drive at approximately 5:40 p.m.
Shooting in an Occupied Dwelling at 4322 Watkins Dr. at approx. 5:50 PM.
Shooting in an Occupied Vehicle on Watkins Dr. near Hanging Moss Rd at approx. 6:02 PM.
No motive for the shootings has been revealed.
