Gulf Islands National Seashore - Fort Pickens Road - Sand Dune Buffer Eroded

The recent weather front has eroded the sand dune buffer (berm) between Fort Pickens Road and the Gulf of Mexico. Waves are breaking directly onto the road.

Park staff continues to monitor road conditions and will begin to remove the sand today.
