Jerry 'The King' Lawler dodges death again
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -
Former wrestler Jerry 'The King' Lawler was involved in a crash on Saturday.
Lawler told WMC Action News 5 that he and his girlfriend were on their way to get pizza just before 9 p.m. He attempted to make a left turn at Poplar Avenue and Mendenhall Road, near the railroad tracks, when a car ran a red light and crashed into him. The car almost hit him head-on.
Lawler said he had no time to react. He said his girlfriend was taken to the emergency room. She has a concussion, her face is swollen, and she was put on crutches.
Lawler said he was the one driving and he walked away without a scratch.
Police identified the other driver as 21-year-old Melanie Baum. She was given a ticket for disregarding a red light.
